Cute Card Thursday-Adding Dimension

The challenge for Cute Card Thursday # 105 - is to add Dimension. I added dimension using the butterfly. I made the butterfly using the new Tim Holtz Butterfly Big Shot Sizzix Die. The outline was cute out with Stampin Up Kiwi Kiss, the inside of the wings are crate paper. I used coordinating crate paper for the backgound of the card. I thought Greeting Farm Butterfly Anya was a perfect friend for the cute flutterby! I added the some of the scallop trim from the crate paper with some matching Ric Rac to add more variety.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: The Greeting Farm
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers
Cardstock: SU Kiwi Kiss
Paper: Crate Paper
Accessories: Tim Holtz Butterfly Sizzix Die, Maya Arts Ric Rac, Nestabilities Ovals

Smoochy Jellyfish

For this cute sea creation uses the sketch from Critter Challenge #7. I made one card on Sunday, but didnt like the way it turned out, so I thought I would try the sketch using a bigger card. This is a 5x7 card and uses a new line from TPC Studio called Undersea Adventures. The line is great for all of my High Hopes cute sea creatures. I am sure you are going to be seeing a lot of this paper! I stamped Jack and Jilly on PaperTrey Stampers Choice Select white. I coloured the pair with copic markers and then added Illuminate smooch to make them sparkle. My photography needs some help, otherwise you'd be able to see them in their shiney delight. I sponged Stampin Up Baja Breeze around them. This week's High Hopes challenge is being hosted by Nikki. Her challenge is called Little Gem and she would love to see gems or pearls used on our cards or paper projects. I added a few blue tiny twinkles for the air bubbles for one fish. Very subtle I thought! It's all in the detail.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: High Hopes Jack and Jilly
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers, SU Baja Breeze
Cardstock: SU Tangerine Tango, PaperTrey Ink Stampers Choice white, Neehah Solar White, TPC Studio Undersea Adventures
Accessories: SU White Satin Ribbon, Taylored Expressions Tiny Twinkles, Illuminate smooch

Sketch Saturday

Sketch Saturday Week # 96 Sponsored by The Craft Barn .This week's sketch for Sketch Saturday was a doozy for me. So many elements. How on earth would I create a card that didnt look like a pile of random craft items thrown together that are suppossed to make a card. Thankfully, I was able to turn to one of my latest purchases of the new Webster paper. The paper used here is from the new Life's Portrait line. I used some Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Ink on the edges of each piece. For the main circle I used Tattered Rose on the entire piece and then added some old paper ink on the edges. The trim is also from Webster's.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Unity Stamps
Ink: SU Basic Black Craft, Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Ink
Card Stock: SU Old Olive
Paper: Webster Paper Life's Portrait
Accessories: SU Build a Brad, PaperTrey Ink Blossom I, II & II Dies, Nestabilites

Critter Challenge Blog Hop

Today is a special day over at the critter challenge blog. They are doing their first blog hop! I hope every can join in with the fun. In addition to their regular weekly challenge, they are doing a special challenge just for the blog hop. Here is my entry. I need more practise with these more complex sketch challenges, but I think this card turned out okay. I really like how the flower turned out. I spritzed white tissue paper with a mini mister filled with Tim Holtz worn lipstick reinker and alcohol blending solution. I folded the big piece of tissue paper several times then ran the paper through my big shot with a flowers sizzix die. I separated the many layers to give the flower more dimension. I added the butterfly to tie in with the theme of the quote.

This month the critter challenge is being sponsored by Paper Jewels. I dont have any Paper Jewel stamps, so I added some "jewels" to my design. I added tiny flowers to the quote and to the vertical strip on the right hand side. My picture gives you a close up, though my picture doesnt give it justice. {note to self, borrow one of my brother's cameras so I can get better pictures}

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Unity Stamps
Cardstock: SU Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Basic Grey Green at Heart, white tissue paper
Ink: SU Black Craft, Tim Holtz Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Alcohol Blending Solution
Accessories: Taylored Expressions multi-colour Twinkle Shapes, SU Ice Cricle brads, Papertrey Ink Butterfly Die, Button Denami Designs, Nestabilites rectangle.

Happy Sunday. This cutie is Josephine the beautiful and sneaky gypsy. As I get more familiar with images of humans I am finding that I like using stamps that remind me of yours truly. I am really working hard on my copic colouring of hair and skin. The Copic Creations website has some great tutorials. They are celebrationg their one year blogoversary. I am entering this card into their challange of using my favourite copic technique. My favourite copic technique is colouring fur. While skin and hair are not my best, or my favourite, I do need to practice A LOT. And practise makes perfect right?

I have a few steam trains in my stamp collection. This one I found on ebay. I found a free SVG file to be able to cut the gears using my cricut. Just about everything I used is Tim Holtz. Dragon Go Round

Happy Tuesday friends.

Today's card is another first for me, a shaped card. Flower blossom more specifically. It's a birthday card that I am going to send to Lacey's 100 birthday cards for someone who is turning 100 card drive. The image is Dustin Pike's cute Dragon Go Round. I coloured him with prisma colour pencils and gamsol. I used spica glitter pens to add some "star dust" The picture doesn't show the sparkly effect. I added some stars around the sentiment to add some real stars for this week's High Hopes challenge. I cut the blossom shaped using my cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot software. The green circle behind the image has been paper pierced. The base of the card and a few accents on the card are Green for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge 102 Lucky Green. Finally for the Critter Sketch Challenge, I know the image doesn't contain a flower, but the card itself is a flower. The image has been coloured yellow, blue, and green for the colours. The Basic Grey paper I used is a great combination of mostly blue with a few specs of yellow from the Lime Rickey line. I stamped the Paper Trey Inc. birthday wishes sentiment on the yellow paper in the Lime Rickey 6x6 paper pack. I added some blue ribbon that ties the two sides of the Cards/flowers together.

List of Challenges:
1. High Hopes Challenge #66 Seeing Stars
2. Get Sketchy Challenge #28: - Make a Shaped card, the bonus challenge is spring themed.
3. Cute Card Thursday: Challenge 102 Lucky Green
4. Critter Sketch Challenge: Inspiration Challenge #4. Use a card that has an image of a flower in it. And use the colours yellow,: blue, and green.

3 Challenges in one card

I am getting into the groove of doing weekly challenges. At first I thought I was going to create a separate card for each challenge, but as I started listing all of the challenges in a little notebook, they started to merge!

My favourite store, Stamp and Create was having a sale on Kraftin' Kimmie stamps. I had been stalking some of the stamps and staying away from adding them to my shopping cart because they were of people. I am/was nervous about colouring human beings. That was until I stumbled across Lavinia. A cute lady with gears. Being an engineer, I have to create with her! Knowing that I had Tim Holtz's Big Shot Gadget Gears Sizzix Die on pre-order, my creative imagination went wild. So into the shopping cart she went, along with this pretty lady, Gevevieve. She became the focal point for the card, combine three challenges and the result became one beautiful creation!

I also started using all of the Tim Holtz goodies I had been purchasing but keeping wrapped up because of big words like distress and applicator tools that looked too time consuming to use. I got Tim's new book, A Compendium of Curiosities , and it shows how to use all of his fun inks, powders, applicators. That applicator tool (Keep in mind that welding torches and power tools are my friends) that seemed too hard to use...has now been reduced to the simplicity of a pencil. The sentiment part of the card was all produced with Tim Holtz supplies. I am looking forward to getting really creative with his stuff.

This is my first time in participating in all three of these challenges; Kraftin' Kimmie - Buttons and Bows, Get Sketchy Challenge # 27, and Copic Creations - A wee bit o'Green. I coloured Genevieve's Dress with various Green Copic Markers along with some browns and greys, added some buttons, a modified bow, a Tim Holtz sentiment that inspired dreaming of great achievement all placed to fit the Get Sketchy design!

Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave a comment!
