I layered the different sizes and put them all together with a clear rhinestone brad. I spritzed them with Tuscan Sun shimmer mist. I sponged the edged with SU's So Saffron ink. I still need more practise making these flowers.

This is my second card using the new papertrey ink's Enjoy the Ride stamp set and coordinating die. Check out the first one here. Get Sketchy

This little cutey is for the Get Sketchy challenge #35. I used my Cricut machine and Sure Cuts A Lot software to cut the 1/2 oval shape and the scalloped tangerine tango base. I then stamped Ruffles and his little bandaged paw using Memento Tuxedo Black. I coloured him using my copics and airbrushed the background. The picture makes it look really splotchy but it looks better in real life.

C4C34

Guess what I made another card using Basic Grey's New Capella paper. I am really digging this stuff. This time it's for the Crazy for Challenge blog, challenge # 34. There were no rules on the challange for the design team members, but we followers do have a rule. We must select one of the projects and CASE (Copy and Share Everything) it. I chose to CASE the card from Frances Byrne. The Capella paper goes well with a number of stampin up colours that are retiring. For this card I chose to use blush blossom and mellow moss. I coloured Stampavie's Bernadette Admiring Spring Flowers with my copics. I used my Copics airbrushing system for the sky. I have not had much practise with the system yet, but I think the sky turned out pretty good. I sponged the edge with Mellow Moss cardstockwith Mellow Moss ink to give it more dimension. I also sponged the edges of the Capella paper with Mellow Moss. In following with the sponging all of the edged theme, I sponged the edges of the blush blossom pieces with blush blossom ink. I added tiny roses from The Art Life Shop and $1 satin ribbon from target. I added a flower charm to the ribbon, but it is hard to see.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Stampavie Bernadette Admiring Spring Flowers (sentiment also from Stampavie)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Soft Mellow Moss, Blush Blossom
Card Stock: Mellow Moss, Blush Blossom, Gina K Pure Luxury
Paper: Basic Grey Capella

Friday Sketchers #99

This week's Friday Sketchers Challenge is being sponsored by Simon Say Stamp. The sketch Host Carole provided a cute sketch. I decided to make a card for my cousin who is expecting her first baby. I used paper from Basic Grey's new Capella line. I punched two edges with a Stampin up edge punch andthen sponged all of the edges with Stampin Up Soft Suede. The base is Soft Suede and Blush Blossom. Stampin' Up's Blush Blossom will be retiring this year, along with several other colours. The image is from Papertrey Ink Enjoy the Ride set. It is a cute versitile set that has a companion die. The flowers were created using papertrey ink's Blossom dies and white tissue paper. I used Blush Blossom reinker and watered it down and misted it onto the flowers. I then sponged some of the reinker onto the edges to givve them more dimension. The center of the flowers are American Craft Pearl brads. The sentiment from Papertry Ink Delightful Dahlia is stamped in Soft Suede on Blush Blossom. I punched it out with the curvy label punch from Stampin Up.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink; Enjoy the Ride, Delightful Dahlia
Ink: Soft Suede, Blush Blossom
Cardstock: Soft Suede, Blush Blossom
Paper: Basic Grey Capella
Accessories: Stampin Up Organza and Satin Ribbon, American Crafts Pearl Brads,White Tissue Paper, Stampin Up Edge Punch, Stampin Up Curvy Label punch

Cute Card Thursday

I love the new Basic Grey Capella line. So much so, that you will be seeing several cards with this paper. This card is for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge. I sponged the edges of all the different pieces with Pumice Stone Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I love the two big flowers. I need more practice and I am planning on getting tons. I used papertrey Inks blossom flower dies and cut a folded piece of tissue paper. I attached the various layers using a build a brad from stampin up. I spritzed some watered down Tim Holtz Distress reinker in Vintage Velvet on the flowers. I used my heat gun to dry them. I separated the layers and crunched them up to make them look more realistic. I added some organza ribbon that was a surprise find in the dollar section of Target. I like it so much I might have to get some more!

Stamps: Stampavie (Image and sentiment)

I love Dragons! Dwight

I cant believe I made a non-square card. I also can't believe I made a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card. This card is for the Crazy 4 Challenges # 33. When I do a card, I usually select the paper first. Then I select the base cardstock colours. When I selected this cute mushroom paper from Crate paper, I knew I had to pair it with Dwight -a cute dragon sitting on a mushroom image I have from High Hopes. I selected the brown because it went perfect with the brown in the mushrooms and the texture gave the card more dimension. I chose SU Crushed Curry because there was some dark yellow in some of the mushrooms. I used the Paper Trey Ink Polka Dot Impression plate to add some extra bubbles to my card. I chose to colour Dwight with colours that were in the paper.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: High Hopes Dwight, Paper Trey Ink Mega Mixed Messages
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers, Stampin Up Bashful Blue
Card Stock: Stampin Up Crushed Curry, Brown Textured Paper-Paper Temptress
Paper: Crate
Accessories: Paper Trey Ink Polka Dot Impression Plate, SU Oval Punches, Brown Brads

Sketch Saturday Week #99

The challenge for Sketch Saturday #99 was a bit of a doozy. Until I decided I should use a big quote stamp and frame it with flowers. I used some small roses I won in a blog hop on the critter challenge blog. I love them and now want to get more! I love how the small sentiment I added pertains to the larger quote. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in aged mahogany to stamp and emboss with clear embossing powder. I didnt realise that I could emboss with Tim Holtz Distress inks. How cool is that! (Thanks Lisa for the tip). I am also entering this card into the Cute Card Thursday Challenge # 108 which is Touchy-feely. The flowers make me want to touch the card!

High Hopes Challenge-Use two or more stamps

Last week, I didn’t get around to the High Hopes challenge (anything but a card). I have the idea and the image already coloured and cut out so chalk it up to procrastination. I made up for it this week It’s Wednesday and I am already finished my card. I really love this card. I love anything to do with snorkeling and the sea. I was unsure what colour to make my eel. My brother suggested black with yellow stripes.

Hmmmm, I was clueless why he suggested those colours until he reminded me that dragons don’t like Black with yellow strip eels. Those with pet dragons are sure to know this, or those of you who have seen How to Train Your Dragon. For me, this movie is up there will Finding Nemo and WALL-E. I loved it. I’ll introduce my own Night Fury in a future post.

Back to the card, I decided to go with a brown eel since I had not personally seen a black with yellow stripes eel while snorkeling yet. I stamped the sea floor image, then covered it with a cut out mask of the same image and then stamped the eel and diver. I stamped the dolphin and then stamped an extra dolphin to colour and cut out to put on top of the waves I would cut later. For the base of the image, I cut out a big rectangle with a wavy top edge using my cricut machine and the Life’s a Beach cartridge. I embossed Baja breeze card stock with the polka dot impression plate from paper trey ink. I sponged Baja breeze on the embossed card stock to give it more dimension. I then I used my cricut again to cut out strips of waves to add to the Cosmo Crickets School’s Out paper for the background of my card. I stamped the High Hopes sentiment on Gina K Pure Luxury White cardstock, sponged the edges with Baja breeze ink and then stuck it to a piece of Pacific Point card stock. I added that to the top of two squares of the same polka dotted embossed cardstock that I cut out using my square nestabilities. The Rhinestones are Stampin’ Up round ice brads.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: High Hopes, Diver Dan, Edgar eel, Dive Right In
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Baja Breeze, Copic Markers
Card Stock: SU Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, Gina K Pure Luxury White
Paper: Cosmo Cricket Scools Out
Accessories: SU Rhinestone Round Ice Brads, Square Nestabilities, Cricut Machine, Life's a Beach Cartridge, Papertrey Ink Polka Dot Impression Plate

Daffodils

I am so excited, I finally have a complete collection of copic sketch markers...except for the eight fluorescent colours, of which I am not partial. I have them all in a big basket that I keep by my seat on the couch. I like to colour while watching tv at night with my family. I am 36 and I love to colour! I even stay in the lines...most of the time :-) I am also giddy because I finally broke down and ordered a copic air brushing system. I want to improve the backgrounds on my images, grass, sky, ocean....I cant wait to make some hopefully fabulous creations.

I had fun using my copics for this card. The current challenge (#25) on the copic creations blog is flowers. The sketch for this challenge is from Friday Sketchers challenge #97, Over on the crazy for challenges blog, challenge #32 is to use 1 ribbon, 2 brads or buttons, and 3 punches. The Cute Card Thursday challenge #107 is Mono Mania. Any guesses on my colour?!?

I chose to use plaid paper for the background since it is sort of Gingham and plaid goes well with golf!

Time to meet Jar Jar Binks

This is Jar Jar Binks, aka Jars, Binks, Bonk, one of the four felines that run the house I call home. Jar Jar and his brother, Qui Gon Gin aka Quiggles, Quiggs, pest, hefalump came to us around the time Star Wars The Phantom Menace came out. We are fans of the Star Wars movies and are on the "we like Jar Jar" side of the argument. I got one of the new Stampavie stamps, Coco the cat by Helz Cuppelditch because he reminds me of a tabby cat. Jar Jar and Quiggles are tabbies; Jar Jar is light orange and Quiggs is tortise shell. The inspiration for this card is Jar Jar. Except in real life, he would be sitting on top of the flowers instead of next to them! The sketch comes from the current Friday Sketchers challenge.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Stampavie Coco Cat Flowers
Cardstock: Stampin Up Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Gina K Pure Luxury
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers, Bashful blue

Get Sketchy Challenge #32

My dad met the CEO of Hero Arts the other day at a business event. He really liked him and of course my dad had to mention that I enjoyed stamping. He got his business card and handed it to me and said, "have you heard of this company?". I was really impressed with the business card because one edge was scalloped punched! That inspired me to get out some of my Hero Art Stamps to get creative. For the background I stamped the floating blossoms background image in Stampin Up Pumpkin Pie craft ink, covered it with clear embossing powder then heated it. I sponged the entire piece with Stampin Up Apricot Appeal I cut 2 rectangles out for the two background pieces, then used a circle nestabilitie for the circle. I then stamped one of the flowers from the Blossom stamp set in Memento Tuxedo black and coloured it with my copic markers, cut it out, punched a hole and attached it to the layered circle. The layout is from the Get Sketchy with it challenge # 32

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Heros Arts Large Background Floating Blossom, Blossoms
Ink: Pumpkin Pie Craft, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers
Cardstock: Stampin Up Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
Paper: Crate
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, Tangerine Tango Ribbon, Ice Rhinestone Brad

Feeling very Krafty!

The first challenge for April over on the Crazy for challenges blog is to use kraft cardstock. This is why I love doing challenges, it makes me use supplies that I neglect. I paired the kraft cardstock with some bravo burgandy (both from stampin up) added the sketch from the Sketch Saturday Challenge #97 and viola! The sponsor for C4C31 is The Greeting Farm, so I thought it appropriate to use one of the image from the Miss Anya Collection

Supplies Used:
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, The Paper Company Sentiment
Cardstock: Stampin Up Kraft & Bravo Burgandy
Paper: Basic Grey Koshi
Accessories: Nestabilities, Denami Design Buttons, Ribbon from Joann's
